Another rumor of massive layoffs! Microsoft expects to cut more than 10,000 jobs in early 2025, and the technology industry's job hunting winter continues to hit

Market rumors indicate that Microsoft plans to lay off 10,000 to 15,000 people in January next year; however, it is unclear which department will be laid off and whether it will involve China.

Judging from the wave of layoffs, employees in the technology industry are facing unprecedented challenges. As resources continue to shift towards the field of artificial intelligence, traditional software development positions are gradually decreasing, resulting in increasingly fierce competition in the job market.

According to statistics from the IT industry media "CRN", the top five companies in the IT industry that have laid off employees this year are:

  1. Intel cuts 15,000 jobs
  2. SAP cuts 10,000 jobs
  3. Cisco cuts 9,000 jobs
  4. XEROX lays off 3,100 employees
  5. Microsoft Azure lays off 1,500 employees.

Previous media reports indicate that Microsoft has invested up to $19 billion in cash capital expenditures and equipment, mostly related to artificial intelligence. But despite investing huge sums of money, the company has yet to generate significant revenue from artificial intelligence. So this could also be the reason for another round of massive layoffs at Microsoft.

Data shows that since February 2020, recruitment information for software development in the technology industry has dropped by 30%. And this year, the job search process is more difficult than ever.
